Alton Village

Alton Village is a picturesque community nestled as far north in the city of Burlington as you can go. It is the newest residential neighbourhood in Burlington (constructed in 2006) and borders on the beautiful Niagara Escarpment. Alton Village is surrounded by nature and hiking trails and is a safe, quiet place to raise a family. All of the conveniences of the city are a quick drive away.

SCHOOLS

Served by the Halton District School Board, Alton Village has several high-quality schools from Kindergarten through Grade 12:

  • Alton Village Elementary School
  • Rolling Meadows Public School
  • Dr. Frank J Hayden Secondary School
  • Orchard Park Secondary School

Catholic Schools

  • Elizabeth Seton Catholic Elementary School
  • St. Anne Catholic Elementary School
  • Corpus Christie Catholic Secondary School

Haber Community Center

The new Haber Community Center is one of the most exciting developments for residents. With four gymnasiums and a concession stand, it’s designed to keep children of all ages busy. Athletes can sweat it out on the court by playing badminton, tennis or basketball.

The center also offers programs for people with disabilities to promote fitness and team spirit.

After the game, students can study and read in the public library, located in the same building.

RESTAURANTS

Alton Village offers popular chain restaurants such as Kelsey’s, Boston Pizza and Cora’s, but the dining options don’t stop there. With many one-of-a-kind eateries and cafes around, you’ll never be at a loss for a dinner out.

Bombay Chili

Ready to turn up the heat? Bombay Chili offers hot, spicy Hakka cuisine and traditional Indian dishes. Stick with the usual favourites: samosas, butter chicken, biryani and naan bread. Or try out some of their creative twists, like butter chicken nachos or poutine!

Doma Sushi

This small, cozy restaurant delivers big flavour. Know what you want? Then order from the a la cart menu, which contains a wide variety of classic Maki and California rolls. If you can’t decide, try “The Course.” The chefs will get creative with your plate, offering up various samples of appetizers, mains and desserts. Party platters are available for large groups, and even seafood haters won’t go hungry. Chicken teriyaki, beef udon soup and vegetable tempura are also on the menu.

Eggsactly Breakfast & Lunch

Start your day off right in this perfect breakfast nook on the corner of Dundas and Walkers Line. Feast on fresh-made Belgian waffles, sugar-sprinkled French toast or a heap of blueberry pancakes. If you prefer lighter fare, ask for the toasted English muffin and jam. Lunch options include hamburgers, chicken tenders and soup of the day. A children’s menu is available for the young ones.

Luk’s Diner

Feel like breakfast for dinner? This small family-owned diner gives you plenty to choose from. There is something for everyone’s taste; all-day breakfast, calamari, souvlaki, stir-fries, cabbage rolls, and more. Everything is handmade from scratch, and large portions mean no one goes home hungry.

Studebaker

This family-owned pub and diner is the winner of the 2020 Reader’s Choice Award. A perfect spot for gathering with friends after work, weekend brunch or eating out with the family or first date. The menu is extensive, soup, salad, burgers, shepherd’s pie, pecan-crusted salmon and more. Every meal is made with love from fresh ingredients. The wide selection of beer, wine and cocktails make Studebaker an ideal place to unwind.

CAFES

Jafra Lounge

Jafra Lounge is not your typical cafe. You’ll find some of the best Turkish coffee around, but it’s also a Shisha bar. Sit back, sip your beverage and enjoy the friendly atmosphere and live entertainment.

Humble Bean Coffee Bar

If cold weather has you down, warm up to award-winning Barocco coffee, fresh-brewed espresso, or steeped loose leaf tea. A variety of fresh-baked snacks will perk you up in no time. Sit quietly with your laptop or catch up with your friends.

Dip n Dip Chocolate Cafe

There is more to this charming little hotspot than mouth-watering chocolate. You can also choose from delectable, fresh-made crepes, waffles, pancakes, milkshakes, sundaes and frappes. Be sure to try out their signature iced latte at least once!

ALTON VILLAGE – THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Alton Village is close to the Niagara escarpment, and has some of the province’s best parks, hiking trails and outdoor activities. Here are just a few:

Palladium Park

Kids and teenagers of all ages will have a blast at Palladium, which features a playground, basketball court, skateboard area, and massive soccer field. There’s lots of room to relax, too. Sit at the park and sunbathe or meditate or have a quiet picnic.

Norton Community Park

Located just outside the Haber Community Centre, Norton features two artificial turf fields, a basketball court, and a skateboard park. On hot days, young ones can play and cool off in the splash pad.

Doug Wright Park Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area

Don’t let the thought of creepy reptiles scare you away. Rattlesnake Point is by far one of the most beautiful places in all of Ontario. It boasts incredible trails for day hiking and winter camping. Forget indoor climbing gyms; you can scale actual cliffs at Rattlesnake Point. Don’t miss Buffalo Crag Lookout Point, where the lush scenery will take your breath away. If you’re lucky, you might see a turkey vulture take flight!

Bruce Trail

The Bruce Trail is Canada’s longest and oldest hiking trail, stretching 900 km from Niagara to Tobermory. Though around 400,000 people visit this trail every year, its size and length make it unlikely to be overly crowded at any point. Keep an eye out for wildflowers and Ontario’s symbol, the trillium. There’s plenty of wildlife to see on your path – turkey vultures, migrating hawks, songbirds and more.

Colin Alton Parkette

Brand new as of June 2021, this mini-park features a playground with a wood fibre floor for safety. Everyone in the family can get their exercise, even the furry ones. There is a fully fenced leash-free dog park, a 200m paved loop, and even an outdoor fitness centre. To relax, have a seat at one of the picnic tables in the shade.

Mount Nemo Walking Trail

Alton Village is a quick nine-minute drive away from one of the most scenic places in all of Ontario. Mount Nemo gives you a panoramic view of the Niagara escarpment. Don’t forget to check out Brock Harris Lookout while you’re there. At 968 feet above sea level, the view is out of this world. On a clear day, you can see as far as the CN Tower!

Glen Eden Ski Village

Calling all winter lovers and ski nuts! The hills of Glen Eden Ski Village await! It’s is a quick 30-minute drive away and has six lifts and 16 different trails suitable for all levels. If you’re just getting used to your ski legs, Snow School is there to help. For experienced skiers, snowboarders and other thrill-seekers, the big hill offers an exhilarating 70m drop.

Farmer’s Markets

Burlington Centre Lions Farm Market

Located at 777 Guelph Line, the Burlington Centre Lions Farm Market celebrates 64 years in 2022! Every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, you can browse the wide selection of locally grown fresh produce, meat, eggs, honey, and even wine. Here is your chance to expand your dining horizons while supporting local farms!

SHOPPING

Living in Alton Village, you’re never far away from a shopping centre. Whether you’re looking for a small specialty shop or big box store, you’ll find everything you need. Here are just a few plazas right around the corner:

Village Square

This unique outdoor shopping village-style center is a quick fifteen-minute drive away. You’ll discover everything from specialty shops and dessert cafes to fitness studios and belly dancing lessons! Watch your calendar for seasonal events like art shows, farmer’s markets, live music and holiday displays.

Mount Royal Plaza

At Mount Royal Plaza, you won’t find many chain stores. Uniqueness is the name of the game here, and you’ll find it in the plaza’s specialty shops, restaurants, and fashion boutiques. Everyday necessities like banking and pharmacies are also at hand, as are physiotherapy clinics and beauty salons.

Appleby Village

Why shop at crowded big box stores when you can find everything you need at a small plaza nearby? At Appleby Village, you’ll find grocery stores, restaurants, banks, martial art studios, even fireworks. All within 15 minutes and with plenty of parking.

COMMUTING

Alton Village is ideal for commuters. Five minutes from the 407, you have easy access to common destinations like Milton, Brampton and Toronto.
