Keller Williams Edge Realty 4th Annual Golf Tournament

FORE! Yet another successful KW event.
he 4th annual Keller Williams Edge Realty Golf Tournament was another huge fundraising success as part of the KW realty culture ‘give where you live’ demonstrating that displays the extraordinary effect when individuals come together to work for the greater good of everyone.
This year’s fundraising beneficiary, to the tune of $20,000, was Food4Kids, a not-for-profit organization which provides packages of healthy food for kids aged 5-14 with limited or no access to food each weekend.
Packages of healthy food are prepared by volunteers and delivered to schools each Friday to ensure children have nourishment over the weekends. There are approximately 400 children in Halton and 1,200 in Hamilton sustaining each and every weekend without food.
Karen Paul & Associates sent two four-somes of guests and team members (Justin, Thelesa and Erin. Karen Paul also sponsored the Women’s Longest Drive for which, Erin took home the trophy.
A special shout out to our hosts Carlisle Golf & Country Club who know how to put on a tournament!
It was a wonderful day, the slide show tells all.

KW Red Day 2016

What is RED Day?
RED stands for Renew, Energize and Donate and is the global day of service and volunteerism for 700 offices and 115,000 Keller Williams associates. This company-wide initiative is about giving back to local communities.
“Our associates are passionate about real estate and passionate about the communities we serve,” said Keller Williams President John Davis. “No matter where our associates are in the world, our shared commitment to helping our neighbors connects us all on RED Day.”
Since 2011, on the second Thursday of May, KW Edge Realty Associates along with other associates across Canada and the US, have devoted an entire day to a special neighbourhood project. By the end of several hundred local projects are completed and tackled.
This year, KW Edge Realty partnered with Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga to help construct homes on Glendor Avenue in Burlington.
From Karen Paul & Associates, Karen Paul & Thelesa Riley joined other KW Associates and spent the day helping construct 13 Burlington town homes.
Deemed a huge success (the photos tell it all), KW Edge Realty had many partners for the event including:
- The Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga volunteers
- Scooter’s Group of Companies for a fabulous BBQ lunch
- Jeff Ley with Empirical Group who provided a very cool drone
- Pat’s Party Rentals for the break-time tent
- Paul Kozbial with Resource Multimedia for the social media program
- Marion Goard, Sales Representative with KW Edge Realty Brokerage for the RED Day chair
- The KWEdge Cultural Committee.
Here’s a selection from the hundreds of photos taken that day.

Held annually at the Central Arena in Burlington, festivities begin at 5:30PM with a pre-dinner wine tasting from Pelee Island Winery and a pre-dinner beer tasting from Nickel Brook Brewing Co.
For eats, there’s lot to offer beyond East Coast Lobster and Camp 31 RIBS. Guests can count on BBQ chicken, baked beans, salads and desserts. Each ticket entitles you to 4 main course servings of your choice. The cash bar will be well-stocked including non-alcoholic beverages.
And not just eatin’ – there’s some serious dancing to the R&B, rock & roll and disco tunes of One Foot In The Groove.
Arrive decked-out in costume or decorate your table and you could win one of several prizes.
Tickets can be purchased individually or as a group online. Purchase your ticket today, as prices increase starting May 1st.
This is the 45th year of this wonderful event, where 800 of Burlington’s finest get together to raise funds for the Rotary’s commitment for a better world both locally and internationally.
More about The Rotary…
I’m a Rotarian, and a proud member of the Rotary Club of Burlington North. I joined as part of my commitment to building a better community.
Rotarians stand by the motto: Service Above Self – serving the community, the workplace and the world. Last year for example, I was part of a Rotary volunteer trip to El Salvador.
I work at the club level which is overseen by the Rotary International. The Rotary Foundation turns the generous donations raised at club level into grants that fund the work of members and partners world-wide. Currently there are 1.2 million Rotarians world-wide.
The Rotary clubs started over 100 years ago. It was founded in Chicago when a local attorney, Paul P. Harris, formed the Rotary Club of Chicago in 1905 as a place where professionals from different backgrounds “exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships”. The name Rotary stems from the fact that early meetings rotated in location.
Rotary Club of Burlington North has many great community events through-out the year. Our main focus is on 3 main events, starting with the RIB & Lobster Fest –
- The Python’s Pit encourages Halton Region residents and students to pitch their business concepts and product ideas to a panel of community business moguls. The goal is to foster innovation, creativity and the entrepreneurial spirit. There are two categories (high schools and open) with different prize levels. This year’s final award ceremony is May 25th.
- The Amazing Bed Race – (pj’s not needed) in support of the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation and the Rotary Club of Burlington North. Each team member must individually raise $300 – and then race their bed across a downtown 100 metre course. All great fun, all in the name of community spirit. Look for the next event in September 2016.
Club meetings are held Fridays at 7AM at the Springer House in Burlington serving breakfast and featuring a speaker.
Support your community, meet your friends and neighbours at the 45th annual RIB & Lobster Fest.
Buy your tickets today, and start planning your costume!
See ya there!

Repeat Business Says It All

…as does appreciating your clients.
On Friday, February 29, Team Karen Paul hosted one of our many client appreciation evenings at FarAway greens golf course– a real Burlington gem. We had lots of fun trying to ‘out’ putt each other.
It was a wonderful evening and our way of thanking our clients for their business.
With 35+ years as a real estate sale professional I’ve learned that building strong client relationships is key to a successful career. I constantly encourage my team to provide the very best in service, which we refer to as the “CLIENT FIRST” guiding principle:
- ensuring we are always accessible to our clients,
- paying attention to detail,
- always communicating effectively and optimizing the best channels
- while consistently meeting our client’s needs.
And of course saying thank you!
Some of my clients have been with me over several home purchases and others have been kind enough to provide referrals and testimonials. My team and I will always be grateful and appreciative.
If you weren’t able to join us at FarAway greens, we hope that you will join us at our next client appreciation night.
I’ve included a few photographs here. My young photographer couldn’t make it so I snapped these with my iPhone…

Keller Williams Family BBQ – 2015

Community is what bring us together. What keeps us safe in tough times and happy in the good times. Burlington is such a fantastic community and my team and I are thrilled to be part of the Keller Williams Community as well.
On Wednesday, one of the generous agents in our office held a fantastic family BBQ event in their backyard in appreciation of the hard work of everyone in the office.
Fully equipped with face painting, pony rides, and games! Our summer student, Grace helped out with the face painting…here are some of her happy clients ?
There were over 100 people there!! Agents, office staff, family, neighbours, and friends.
What a fantastic turnout, and the weather could not have been better.
keller-williams-family-bbq-karen-paul-real-estate2We had a great time playing some fun outdoor games!
And of course, the food was a huge hit!
What do you do to celebrate your community? I would love to see pictures of your backyard summer BBQs!
Share your summer adventures our Facebook page!

The Need For Community Involvement

We proudly had lots of community involvement in May!
Thursday May 14th, our team, along with tens of thousands of associates across the USA and Canada participated in RED DAY, which included devoting our time to renewing and energizing aspects of the neighbourhoods where we live.
more
Community Involvement is entrenched in Keller Williams Realty’s culture and and displays the extraordinary effect a company can have when individuals come together to work as a team for the greater good of everyone.
We pride ourselves on being able to serve others.
Our office closed for the day and all of the team members canvassed the community for food donations that we organized for a few Burlington food banks in need. Cogeco provided coverage and hundreds of hours of planning, implementing and collecting is HUGELY appreciated from all the volunteers.
At Keller Williams Realty, we know that CHARACTER BUILDS CULTURE and is the backbone of our belief system. With all of our efforts, we collected donated just over 2 tonnes of food!!We wanted to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated and to our amazing community for making this happen!
On Thursday May 28th, we had our 3rd Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Carlisle Golf and Country Club. Our golf foursome won “most honest golfers!” We had such a great day of laughs, food, some good shots, and man it was HOT!Carlisle was an amazing host again this year and we could not have asked more a more beautiful day! Each hole was either sponsored by a business in the community or held a friendly competition. The dinner was fantastic and the silent auction raised some great funds for the cause!
I was bidding on a new Ferrari chair or my office! Although someone must have wanted it more than me!
All the proceeds raised from the Charity Golf Day went to the Joseph Brant Foundation. What a great Month!!

“Give Where You Live” – Our Community Involvement

In Burlington, almost 17,000 people (10%) are living at or below the poverty line. Everyday 10% of Burlington children are at risk of going to bed without food. About 44 % of all food bank clients are children.
We, at Keller Williams are eager to roll up our community involvement sleeves and do something about this. ?Give Where You Live | Community Involvement | Karen Paul & Associates Real Estate
On Thursday May 14, 2015, our Brokerage will be participating in the 7th annual Keller Williams Realty RED DAY (Renew, Energize & Donate). We’ll join approximately 700 Keller Williams offices and over 100,000 associates from more than a dozen countries around the world, renewing and energizing our communities.
In Burlington, we will be addressing the issue of hunger and food insecurity. Numerous individuals in our community, including children, go hungry when not assisted by community food banks and nutrition programs.
The need for food to service these programs is dire.
So, what’s our plan for RED DAY? We’re organizing a city-wide Food Drive in support of some of the organizations that provide food and services to those who are going hungry, collecting specific non-perishable food items and toiletries.
These will be re-distributed to Food4Kids, Compassion Society of Halton, ROCK (Reach Out Centre For Kids) and Partnership West Food Bank who will make good use of all the items collected.
Keller Williams agents will be canvassing in your neighbourhood on the days leading up to Thursday May 14th, informing you how you can help out and be involved with this important program. On Thursday May 14 we will be collecting non-perishable food and home items from the generous houses in the community who have chosen to participate. This is a great cause and there is a great need for your community involvement.
We look forward to speaking with you further about this great event!

Burlington Flood Relief Update

Last night, Jim Diers, a world renowned community activator was in Burlington giving a talk on How to Build Better Burlington, titled Where We Live Matters: Building Vibrant Neighbourhoods.
Of the MANY poignant things he spoke about, one really hit true to home for Burlington residents this year; natural disaster. He spoke about the earthquake in Christchurch, NZ, the Typhoon in Taiwan and how these disasters brought forth a strong community, resulting in innovative ways to carry on and focus on making some good out of the bad situation. He reminded us that devastation often brings communities much closer – we are all in it together and compassion drives our desire to help out our neighbours. Burlington has always been an amazing community, but what our residents witnessed during this time of need was truly amazing. With hundreds of people moving here each year, Jim suggested we need to discover new ways to make them aware of community organizations and make them feel at home in Burlington, so they feel welcomed into their new community.
The devastation of the Burlington Floods on Monday August 4th, 2014 brought our community together in such a beautiful way. We truly turned devastation into a higher purpose. The compassion and aid that was given and the massive fundraising that took place (and still is!) is heart-warming. Through all our efforts, the Burlington Community Foundation (BCF) Flood Disaster Relief raised almost $900,000!! The Ontario provincial government is also matching the funds raised in the community 2 to 1 for up to $3 million. It is always rewarding to give to charity, but to know and see the results of contributing to our neighbours, in our own backyard, is priceless.
If you or your loved ones were affected, my heart sincerely goes out to you <3
The deadline to DONATE FUNDS or MAKE A CLAIM to Burlington Flood Relief is Monday, December 15th

Lest We Forget

Beautiful Burlington City hall this morning was a great place to be.Nov 11
The Burlington Teen Tour Band played God Save the Queen while hundreds in attendance paid their respects to our fallen soldiers, and most recently Cpl. Nathan Cirillo. All around our country today, millions stopped for a moment of silence and bowed their heads in solemn remembrance.
One Burlington resident, 85-year-old Betty Laron had emigrated to Burlington from Holland with her late husband Leon. When Betty was 13, she and her parents were in hiding for 786 days in the upstairs of a home in rural Holland. This evening on the History Channel, Betty reflects on her time during the war and the overwhelming relief she and her family felt when their town was liberated by Canadian soldiers. Betty`s husband was a long-time Rotarian in Holland and had become a member of the Burlington Lakeshore Rotary Club.
Tune in to the History channel this evening at 8:00pm to hear the story of Betty Laron.

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

On October 20th two members of the Karen Paul Team participated on the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Karen Paul walked the 5K course and Justin Loncaric ran the 1/2 Marathon distance. It was a superb event and a first for Justin who crossed the finish with a time of 1:57:18.
We ran in the event to raise awareness for the Dr. Greg Wells Exercise Medicine Fund. A group doing cutting edge research on the effects of exercise on chronically ill children and how it can be used as treatment and potentially a cure.
